Full Defect | Surrey Quays

Last week Amy Childs visited visited a block in Surrey Quays, London to carry out a full defect inspection in relation to the reported overflowing rainwater goods and associated damage to the wooden pontoon terraces.

The development comprised of apartment buildings and dockside houses built around the 1990’s. Many of the properties benefit from direct water views and those apartments to the ground floor have decked pontoon terraces above the water.

Upon our inspection we noted the following defects:

  • Missing seals to downpipes

  • Blocked gutters and hoppers

  • Gutters out of alignment

  • Rotten and splintered handrails and corner posts to pontoons

  • Rotten and unsafe sections of decking which have disintegrated

We are now producing a full report that provides our recommendations that can be incorporated in the buildings maintenance plan with specific focus on the unusual access requirements, due to the apartments being located so close to waterfront!
